Aluminium extrusion mill finish is straight out of the extrusion press, that is often further processed by our customers as it has not been treated or finished in any way. Mill finish typically has a slightly rough texture and is dull in colour compared to brushed or anodised aluminium.

Mill Finish Surface
Aluminium in a ‘mill finish’ state will reveal smudges and fingerprints. On applications where surface finish is critical, we interleave with paper between extrusions to prevent them rubbing.

Extrusion Lines
Mill finish typically has extrusion lines running along the length of the extrusion, but these can be limited by specifying the visible surface during the die design phase with us. Mill finish is susceptible to water damage – staining will occur if it remains wet.

Characteristics
Aluminium does not rust, but in its original form, it will oxidise in moisture. Mill finished aluminium also has light scratches, nudges, spots, and tooling marks.
