Anodising

The ALEXCO’s Anodising plant was established in 2021 at our main factory after decommissioning our Petone plant. A fully-automated facility offering a range of coluored finishes for all extrusions, from decorative to marine-grade Anodising.

At ALEXCO our tank size capacity is 3mtr long and up to 900mm high, and we have a minimum order charge of $50.

Anodising Finish

Anodising Surface Finish

The anodising process is a surface treatment, not a coating. It will not conceal defects or scratches. If customers are providing their own products for finishing, they need  to be provided scratch and oil free, clean and protected from damage.

Anodised Colour Performance

Anodised Colour Performance

Alloy grade can have a significant effect in the finished anodised colour. Our process is tuned to 6060 alloy.  5000 (plate & sheet) and 7000 series alloy usually do not take colours successfully and generally, cast alloy products can’t be anodised successfully.

Profile Handle

Our Runs

Each load needs to be up to 30m², so  small runs are amalgamated with other orders of same colour, which helps  reduce costs yet increase lead times.

Clamp Marks

Clamp Marks

Anodised items need to be mechanically clamped to run the very high current. That means there will be clamp marks within 50mm of each end of a profile. We work with our customers to select a non-visible surface to clamp where possible.

Anodising Colour Range

Colours obtained by the anodising process is dependent on many factors such as alloy grade, temper, shape etc., making exact colour matches difficult and some colour variation should be expected.

The native colour of anodised aluminium is silver. The ALEXCO Anodising colour range includes the most popular Natural Silver through to the Ultra Black.

Our full colour range can be provided; please contact us for samples.

Note on colour: Colour swatches/examples are approximate representations and should not be interpreted as exact colours of the finished product. The Champagne and Bronze colour ranges will have some variation from run to run and within runs, which cannot be avoided.
